Deborah Bonham and Iris catch up
Deborah Bonham, sister of Led Zeppelin's John Bonham, and auntie of Jason has released a new album called "Dutchess" with guest appearances of Paul Rodgers and nephew Jason. Her voice is a wonderful blend of smoky gutsy blues, and yet a feminine softness in her ballads. She writes from the heart, and is so easy to talk to. Deborah talks about her journey from deciding at the age of 6 to make music a career, to the release of the new album, as well as the Led Zeppelin reunion in December 2007 and her thoughts about it happening again. This is about a 21 minute interview so be patient with the download. She's fabulous!

"Whispering" Bob Harris of the BBC chats with Iris
Bob Harris is legendary in England as host of BBC Radio. He was also the host of "The Old Gray Whistle Test" and his smooth "whispering" style was a target for parody by the likes of Eric Idle. I got on well with Bob. Enjoy the interview from the Abbey Road Studios in 1999. Since then Bob has gone through his own battle with cancer. I can relate.

Roxy Music was one of those bands that just burrowed into my soul. Loved the vocals of Bryan Ferry, and loved the guitar of Phil Manzanera. Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green talks to Iris
This is from the Abbey Road Interview archives. Peter Green was considered to be one of the best guitar players in the universe when Fleetwood Mac formed. He was and still is a sweet and fragile soul who was only into the music, not the rockstar part of the job. If you want the whole story about Peter, then check out Mick Fleetwood's book because he loved Peter very much. Anyway, I was lucky enough to have a chat with him at the Abbey Road sessions, and the thing I remember most is talking to him about the song "Oh Well." Enjoy.

Beatles driver, Alf Bicknell, chats with Iris
Alf Bicknell was one of the kindest gentlemen I've ever met, and that's why I'm sure The Beatles loved him as well. He was on the "inside" but kept their secrets, and was regarded as a friend. From 1964 to 1966, he was the Beatles' chauffeur, ferrying them to and from concert venues and movie sets. When the band traveled in John Lennon's Rolls Royce Phantom V, Bicknell was usually behind the wheel. He even inspired the song, "Baby You Can Drive My Car." Sadly Alf passed away on March 9th, 2004 at the age of 75. Here's the chat we had at Abbey Road Studios in September 1999.
