KGON listener Lee Lewis had a great idea! This summer, he went to Greece, Bulgaria and Italy laying subsea-cable, and his thought was to go into these places and get pictures of himself wearing a KGON T-Shirt in exotic locations. I loved the idea and asked him to please send me the pictures once he got back.
So he did. This will give you an idea of what Lee looks at daily on the ship.

Lee contacted me when he got back, but he was disappointed. Most of the time he was working in "remote areas and never in the touristy places." Lee said he "was HOPING this time would be different but it wasn't." In fact, he had to have his KGON picture taken in front of banks that say the name of the country...like Bank of Greece, or Banko Sicily...etc.
Still, I wanted to see the pictures, because I love the idea of travel. I like to travel, but I love the IDEA much more. It was my way to travel without packing. I also love to see what people do for a living. I'm hooked on Discovery Channel shows.
He even got to see Mt. Etna puffing away.
Living near Mount St. Helens, we like that kind of stuff, right?
And what's an exotic location without a castle?
There were some amazing stories too. The Port of Poti in Georgia was one of the locations that Lee and the crew laid cable. That is the same port that was bombed on August 8th. The Black Sea port of Poti, handles oil shipments from the Caspian Sea. Reports from Georgia say that the port was "completely devastated." That was right after Lee's ship was there. Timing is an amazing thing. Here's the Port of Poti when Lee was there.

Amazing! Thank you Lee, for sharing the pictures, and your story.
