I was just hanging out in the office, shootin' the breeze with Gina from 94/7 Alternative Portland. (Our cubicles are next to each other and we knocked out one of the dividers so we can giggle and whisper to each other about other people in the office but now all I do is eavesdrop on her conversations and butt in when she's talking to people. I expect to come in any day and find the divider firmly nailed back into place so she can have her privacy back.)
Anyway, she was watching the You Tube video of the new lead singer for Journey and of course I stuck my head over to her side and we watched it together, me making joyful comments and eating pepperoni, she probably wishing I would turn the hell around already.
I jumped on the web to discover all the details. "Arnel Pineda replaces Jeff Scott Soto, who parted ways with the band earlier this year after stepping in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the band in 2006 for medical reasons." Check out the rest of the story at the Journey Official website which is apparently under construction, but talks all about the band and the new singer.
You immediately need to check out his video because he's REALLY good! If you close your eyes, he sounds just like Steve Perry! Journey actually found him and hired him after seeing him on You Tube. I will be leaving the office early now so that I can go and make my own You Tube video in hopes that maybe The Pretenders are looking for a new lead singer as well.
And I guess you don't really need to close your eyes afterall because after we watched Arnel, Gina put on the real Steve Perry and I knew, without even turning around to eavesdrop, that my ears were being tickled by the real deal.
